Yummy Chocolate Cake Recipe
Who doesn't love chocolate cake?? It's a dream come true so I thought I'd share my go-to, super easy recipe because sharing is caring right?
Ingredients
4oz self-raising flour
4oz butter
4oz sugar
1oz cocoa
2 eggs (lightly beaten)
1 tsp baking powder
Method
- Cream together the butter and sugar until it’s pale and fluffy
- While still whisking, slowly add in the egg. To prevent the mix from splitting it’s best to use room temperature eggs
- When the eggs are fully combined, sift in the flour, cocoa and baking powder. I don’t usually sift flour but with this cake, it helps the cocoa and baking powder spread out more consistently
- Fold in the dry ingredients until the mix is smooth, careful not to overwork
- Transfer to a lined, 8-inch cake pan and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180C for 30-35 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean
- When done, leave to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack
Frosting - Optional
150g butter
300g icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Splash of milk
- Whisk together until fluffy and spread on top of the cake. Enjoy! xo
